2009 Fall Workshops


Papermaking for Everyone.

This years theme for Art on Harrison Street is Recycle Oak Park. Recycling can be fun! Come join us as we make sheets of paper using a coffee can as a mold and an assortment of recycled paper as our pulp. A great way to turn junk mail into treasures!
Fee: $15

Sept. 19, Saturday, 1:00-2:00PM

Leaf printing with Kids.

Soon autumn will turn the leaves pretty colors. Try using ink to print the leaves on a Tote bag! Learn to mix colors and print beautiful leaves on a canvas bag. Fun and you can use the bag to carry many things.

Fee: $15

Sept 20th, Sunday, 1:00 – 2:00PM

Relief Printing: Woodcut and Linoleum Block Printing
Students will learn to carve and pull prints from a block of wood and sheet of Linoleum! Transfer your drawing on a block then use cutting tools to make your plate. Using water based inks print your block! No previous experience necessary.
Fee: $65 Supplies included

Oct. 6–Nov. 3, Tues, 7:15PM – 9:15PM (no class Oct. 13)

Making Jewelry with Metal Clay

Metal Clay is a very flexible material similar to clay that when finished is fired in a kiln. The students will make a pendant and a pair of earrings and use cubic zirconium stones. After it is fired, you can wear your fine silver earrings home. Additional Metal Clay may be purchased in class. Max students 6.

Fee: $120 per session

Meditation and Monoprinting

Breathing helps relax us and feeds our body. We will start our printing class with a 15 minute guided mediation on the heart shakra QiGong Instructor Sarah Stevenson. This will follow with a hands on workshop in watercolor Monoprinting. Students will paint with watercolor on a Plexiglas plate while listening to gentle music. We will use our printing press to print the plates. Lastly we will finish with a review of our prints while drinking green tea. An exercise in art and mediation. If you have watercolors or brushes please bring them!
Fee: $65

Summer 2009 Classes at Expressions Graphics.

Rubber Cut Cards Workshop
You will learn to transfer a drawing on to a rubber block and use carving tools to make a relief print. Put them on a card to send to friends and family. Bring a drawing.  Students will also make cards to exchange with other students in the class.

Fish Printing “Gyotaku”

This technique was once used to record fishermen’s daily catch. Now its an art form. Come and experience a fun way of printing. Using a fresh fish and some ink we will be printing on various papers and a T-shirt.

Fantasy Garden Painting

Fee: $50 all supplies included.

April 4, Sat. 1-3pm. Instructor: Karen Linduska



You will learn a fun painting technique that can be used on paper or fabric. The process is a layering of stencils and stamps to create fantasy abstract images. For more information check out Karen’s web site and blog at www.karenlinduska.com

Fee: $18 per student, all supplies provided.

Age 3rd grade and up to high school level

Saturday April 4th, 9:30-11:00am Instructor: Tim Linduska

Students will create a relief printmaking block using rubber tires and print an edition of ten prints. Students will cut inner tube into a variety of shapes realistic or abstract. They will glue these to a block and print. The basics of relief printmaking along with examples will be discussed and displayed.

Students should wear old clothes or bring art smocks

A payment of 1/2 down on a class will insure a space in a class. All classes have a 3 student minimum and most have a 8-10 maximum. All supplies are included unless otherwise noted. If a class is full or you can’t make a class because of a time conflict, please call us and we’ll keep you on a waiting list. Want to have a private art party. Just about all these workshops can be done anytime. Just grab three friends and give us a call.

Classes For Winter/Spring 2009

Beginning Screen printing

Fee: $75 Instructor: Janet Schill
Jan. 27 - Feb. 18, Tuesday, 7-9:30PM, (Plus we will choose one make up/open studio time TBA in Class)

In this class we will be using drawing method to make our stencil. Then we will explore using a photographic technique to transfer your image to your screen. Simple printing with water based inks will finish the class. A great introduction to basic screen printing! All material included except paper.

Guest Artist Workshop: Fantasy Garden Painting
